Suspicious Misunderstanding: Brahman's Wife & Mongoose

In a certain city there lived a man by the name of Devasarman. His wife gave birth to a son. She also had a pet mongoose at home. Full of love for her children, she cared for the mongoose like a son. However, she did not trust him, thinking that in keeping with the evil nature of his species he might harm her son.

One day, after nicely tucking the boy into his bed, she took the water pitcher and said to her husband, "Listen, master, I am going to the pond to fetch water. You must protect our son from the mongoose."

After she departed, the man went off somewhere to collect alms, leaving the house empty. In the meantime a snake crept out of its hole and 'as fate would have it' approached the boy's bed. However, the mongoose confronted this, his natural enemy, and fearing that it might kill his brother, the mongoose attacked the wicked snake, tore it to bits, and threw the pieces far and wide.

Proud of his valor and his face covered with blood, the mongoose approached the mother to tell her what had happened.

However, the mother, seeing his blood-spattered face and sensing his excitement, feared, "without doubt this evildoer has devoured our son." Driven by anger and without further investigation she threw the water-filled pitcher at the mongoose, killing him instantly.

Paying no further attention to the mongoose, she rushed into the house where she found the boy still asleep. Near the bed she saw a large black snake, torn to bits. Then her heart was overcome with sorrow because of the thoughtless murder of her praiseworthy son, the mongoose, and she wept.

While this was happening the Brahman returned home with alms from wherever he had been begging.

"See there!" she cried, overcome with grief for her son, the mongoose. "Oh, you greedy one! Because you let greed rule you instead of doing what I told you to, you now must taste the fruit of your own tree of sin, the pain of your son's death."

Moral: Think before you act. Sometimes what you think may not be the truth.
Don't take hasty decisions out of anger and frustrations.

A doctor entered the hospital in hurry after being called in for an emergency urgent surgery. He answered the call asap, changed his clothes and went directly to the surgery block. He found the boy's father pacing in the hall waiting for the doctor.

On seeing the doctor, the dad yelled: "Why did you take all this time to come? Don't you know that my son's Life is in danger? Don't you have any sense of responsibility?"

The doctor said: "I am sorry, I wasn't in the hospital and I came as fast as I could after receiving the call. And now, I wish you'd calm down so that I can save your son".

The patients angry father replied: "What if your son was in this room right now, would you calm down? If your own son dies now what will You do?"

The doctor replied: "From dust we came and to dust we return, blessed be the name of God". Doctors cannot prolong Lives. Go and pray for your son, we will do our best by God's grace"

The angry father murmured: "Giving advises when we're not concerned is so easy".

The surgery took few hours after which the doctor said:
"Thank goodness!, your son is saved!.. If You have any question, please ask the nurse !"
And without waiting for the father's reply he carried on his way running, left hurriedly back to his home.

The angry father asked the nurse: "Why is he so arrogant? Why couldn't he wait for a few minutes, so that I could ask about my son's condition".

The nurse answered, tears coming down her face: "Doctors son died yesterday in a road accident, and he was in the burial when we called him for your son's surgery. and now that he saved your son's life, he left running to finish his son's burial."

Moral: Never judge anyone, just by assumptions. Try to realize the reality of truth.
Because You never know how their life is, what they're going through, and
What their Journey is all About !
